Sudden Cardiac Arrest does not discriminate by age, race or gender. It is estimated to kill over 400,000 people each year and is the second leading cause of death in adolescents and youth, estimated at 70 per week in the United States.

Early detection is crucial for survival.

Strive for Life understands youth are not adequately screened for heart conditions.  Most who suffer SCA have an undetected heart condition.  Frequently, the warning signs and symptoms in youth are masked or misdiagnosed.   Statistics show proper screening tests are the best way to determine who is at risk for SCA and will usually uncover youth with a heart abnormality or concern.

Strive for Life Foundation currently sponsors heart screenings for our youth.  These screenings feature testing that typically cost up to $700 when done in a doctor’s office.  Unfortunately, insurance doesn’t pay for these tests due to no underlying health issues. Strive4Life Foundation sponsored testing is performed through special arrangements and includes blood pressure, 12-lead electrocardiogram (EKG), and focused echocardiogram (heart imaging) followed by a comprehensive report from staff cardiologists.  Testing is always provided on a first-come/first-serve basis.
